Terms of Use
Chasy Group Pty Ltd
ABN 48 699 568 388
1. About these Terms
These Terms of Use govern your use of Chasy, a shared-expense service operated by Chasy Group Pty Ltd (“Chasy”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
Chasy helps people record, split, review, manage and settle shared expenses.
Depending on the features available to you, Chasy may also provide receipt scanning, reminders, automated follow-up, payment reporting and, in the future, Open Banking or payment functionality.
By creating a Chasy account, accepting these Terms, or continuing to use Chasy after being asked to accept an updated version, you agree to these Terms.
Our Privacy Policy also applies to your use of Chasy:
Feature-specific terms, consents or provider requirements may also apply where clearly presented to you.
2. Current external beta
Chasy is currently being prepared for external beta testing, including through Apple TestFlight.
For the current external beta:
- Bank Connections are disabled;
- PayTo is disabled; and
- PayID payment functionality is disabled.
You can still use Chasy to:
- create and join groups;
- record shared expenses;
- split expenses;
- calculate balances;
- review who owes what;
- manage settlement obligations;
- report and confirm payments made outside Chasy;
- make payment commitments;
- use reminders and follow-up; and
- maintain shared-expense history.
References in these Terms to Open Banking or payment through Chasy apply only when the relevant feature is made available to you.
A feature described in these Terms should not be taken as being currently available merely because these Terms explain how it will operate when enabled.
3. Eligibility and personal use
Chasy is intended for Australian adults managing personal, household, travel, social or other informal shared expenses.
Chasy is not designed as:
- business accounting software;
- a lending or credit service;
- a debt collection service;
- a general-purpose money-transfer service; or
- a facility for unrelated commercial or remittance payments.
You must provide accurate and current information when using Chasy.
Additional eligibility, identity, banking or provider requirements may apply to particular features if those features are introduced.
4. Your account and security
You are responsible for keeping control of your Chasy account and authentication methods.
You must:
- provide accurate account and contact information;
- keep your authentication details secure;
- not allow another person to use your identity or account;
- notify Chasy promptly if you believe your account has been compromised; and
- complete reasonable authentication or verification steps when required for sensitive actions.
You must not attempt to access another person's account or private information without authority.
5. Groups, invitations and guests
Chasy allows users to create groups and include registered members, invited people and guests.
Group administrators may have additional permissions for managing the group, but they do not own another user's personal information and cannot act on another user's behalf simply because they administer a group.
If you:
- invite another person;
- include someone as a guest;
- provide another person's contact information; or
- use a Chasy feature that results in communications being sent to another person,
you must have a genuine shared-expense reason for doing so.
You must not use Chasy invitations, groups, reminders or communications to impersonate, threaten, harass, embarrass or deliberately mislead another person.
6. Expenses and splits
Users are responsible for the information they enter or confirm in Chasy.
This includes:
- whether an expense was genuinely shared;
- the description and amount;
- who paid;
- who participated;
- how the expense should be split;
- adjustments and corrections;
- receipts; and
- notes or supporting information.
You should review information before confirming it and correct material errors promptly.
Chasy calculates balances and settlement obligations using information entered or approved by users.
Chasy may correct technical or calculation errors, but we do not independently verify every private expense arrangement between users.
An amount shown as owing in Chasy does not, by itself, mean Chasy has legally determined that a debt is enforceable.
7. Review and settlement
Chasy may provide a review process before balances or settlement obligations are finalised.
You should use the available review, question or issue process to raise incorrect expenses, splits or balances where reasonably possible.
Once a review progresses to settlement, Chasy may preserve a record of:
- the relevant participants;
- expenses;
- balances;
- allocations; and
- settlement obligations.
This helps ensure later changes to group membership or accounts do not rewrite the history of an earlier settlement.
Where a correction is required, Chasy may use a correction, cancellation, adjustment or dispute process rather than silently altering historical records.
8. Reminders and follow-up
Chasy may send reminders and follow-up communications about genuine shared expenses, payment commitments and outstanding settlement obligations.
These communications may:
- be generated automatically;
- result from actions taken by another group member;
- relate to a payment date or commitment; and
- continue while a genuine Chasy obligation remains unresolved.
These communications are part of the Chasy service and are different from promotional marketing.
Chasy controls the reminder and follow-up process, including timing, escalation, commitments, issue states and when automated follow-up stops.
Users must not attempt to manipulate or misuse these features to pressure, threaten or harass another person.
9. Manual settlement
You can settle an amount outside Chasy using your own banking or payment arrangements.
Where manual settlement is used, Chasy may:
- calculate what is owed;
- allow the payer to report that payment has been made;
- allow the recipient to confirm or dispute receipt; and
- update the Chasy settlement record.
Chasy does not initiate, hold or guarantee a transfer that users make independently outside Chasy.
You are responsible for checking recipient information in your own banking service before sending money.
A payer reporting a payment in Chasy does not, by itself, prove that the recipient received the funds.
Chasy does not charge a Chasy settlement-processing fee for a manual payment made independently outside Chasy.
10. Payment through Chasy
Chasy may introduce an optional feature that allows a payer to settle an existing Chasy obligation through an approved third-party payment provider.
This feature is not enabled in the current external beta.
If payment through Chasy is made available:
- it may only be used for a genuine settlement obligation created through Chasy;
- it is not a general-purpose person-to-person money-transfer facility;
- it must not be used for unrelated transfers;
- Chasy will use an approved payment provider to facilitate the payment; and
- Chasy will not use its ordinary operating bank account to manually receive and redistribute customer settlement funds.
Payment through Chasy must not be used for:
- unrelated remittances;
- lending;
- fundraising;
- cash transactions;
- money laundering;
- fraudulent activity;
- prohibited goods or services; or
- another purpose unrelated to a genuine Chasy settlement obligation.
11. Verification for future payment features
If payment or payout functionality is introduced, Chasy or the applicable payment provider may require information or checks reasonably necessary for:
- identity verification;
- KYC or customer verification requirements;
- AML/CTF compliance;
- sanctions screening;
- fraud prevention;
- source-of-funds checks;
- bank-account verification;
- account-name checks;
- recipient verification;
- payment-network requirements; or
- other legal, security or risk requirements.
The exact checks will depend on the payment service and provider operating at the time.
You must provide accurate information and must have authority to use any bank account or payment method you provide.
You must not provide another person's bank, card, payment or identity information without authority.
A payment or payment feature may be delayed, declined, restricted, returned or suspended where reasonably required by:
- Chasy;
- the payment provider;
- a bank;
- a payment network;
- law;
- security controls; or
- risk and compliance requirements.
12. Payment authorisation and fees
If payment through Chasy is introduced, any applicable Chasy settlement fee will be clearly disclosed before you authorise the payment.
Before authorisation, the payment flow will show the information reasonably required for you to understand the transaction, including:
- the settlement amount;
- any Chasy fee;
- the total amount to be paid or charged;
- the intended recipient; and
- the payment method or process being used.
The amount of a Chasy settlement fee may vary over time, by payment method or under a promotion.
The fee shown to you before authorisation will be the applicable fee for that transaction.
You must authorise the total amount before Chasy asks the payment provider to begin processing the payment.
Manual settlement outside Chasy remains separate from the optional Chasy payment service.
13. Transaction limits
If payment functionality is introduced, Chasy and its payment provider may impose reasonable:
- transaction limits;
- daily limits;
- payment-method limits;
- account limits; or
- transaction-frequency or velocity controls.
These controls may be used to manage:
- fraud;
- provider risk;
- operational risk;
- security; and
- regulatory requirements.
Relevant limits may vary by user, payment method or transaction.
14. When a payment is complete
If payment through Chasy is introduced, a settlement is not necessarily complete merely because the payer has pressed a payment button or authorised an initial payment instruction.
Chasy may need confirmation of the relevant:
- payment collection;
- provider processing;
- reconciliation; and
- recipient payout
before marking the underlying Chasy obligation as settled.
Processing times may vary depending on the payment method, bank, provider, verification requirements and operating conditions.
Chasy does not guarantee that every payment will complete immediately.
15. Failed, returned, reversed or incorrect payments
If future payment functionality is enabled and a payment fails before funds are collected, the Chasy settlement obligation may remain outstanding.
Where funds have been collected but cannot be delivered to the intended recipient, Chasy and the payment provider may use the applicable provider process to:
- retry the payment;
- correct the payout;
- return funds;
- refund funds; or
- otherwise resolve the transaction.
If a payment is later reversed, returned or otherwise unwound, Chasy may update or reopen the relevant settlement obligation so that Chasy reflects what actually occurred.
Duplicate, overpaid, underpaid, unmatched or incorrectly directed payments will be dealt with through the applicable Chasy and provider dispute or correction process.
Chasy cannot guarantee that a completed transfer can be reversed after funds have been successfully paid to a recipient.
16. Disputes and refunds
There is an important distinction between:
- a disagreement about the underlying shared expense, and
- a problem with processing a payment.
Chasy can:
- correct errors in its own records;
- investigate product behaviour;
- allow users to raise issues;
- maintain dispute records; and
- involve an applicable provider where necessary.
Chasy does not act as a court and does not independently decide whether a private debt between users is legally enforceable.
If future payment functionality is enabled, users may be required to cooperate with reasonable information requests relating to:
- failed payments;
- refunds;
- reversals;
- unauthorised payments;
- fraud investigations;
- chargebacks; or
- payment disputes.
17. Fraud, security and prohibited activity
Chasy uses product and security controls designed to prevent misuse and protect users.
You must not use Chasy to:
- create false expenses;
- fabricate participants;
- upload deliberately false receipts;
- falsely report that a payment was made;
- disguise the purpose of a transaction;
- impersonate another person;
- circumvent identity or security controls;
- process unrelated payments;
- launder money;
- conduct unlawful activity; or
- misuse the service in a way that may harm another user.
Where reasonably necessary, Chasy may investigate activity, preserve relevant records or restrict access to affected functionality.
18. Privacy
Chasy handles personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy:
The Privacy Policy explains:
- what information Chasy collects;
- how information is used;
- the service providers involved;
- data retention and deletion;
- access and correction rights;
- security arrangements; and
- privacy complaints.
If Open Banking or payment functionality is introduced, additional consent, privacy or provider information may be presented before you use that feature.
19. Service and marketing communications
Chasy may send communications reasonably required to operate the service, including:
- security notices;
- invitations;
- group activity;
- review notices;
- reminders;
- settlement updates;
- payment commitments; and
- follow-up communications.
These may continue where reasonably necessary even if you opt out of optional marketing.
Where permitted, Chasy may separately send information about Chasy features, services, updates or offers.
Optional marketing communications will provide an appropriate way to opt out.
Chasy does not sell your personal or financial information.
20. Acceptable use
You must use Chasy only for lawful and genuine shared-expense purposes.
You must not:
- create false expenses, receipts or payment reports;
- create false participants or identities;
- impersonate another person;
- use another person's bank, card, identity or account details without authority;
- use Chasy as a general-purpose remittance or lending service;
- use Chasy for gambling or prohibited activities;
- use Chasy to facilitate money laundering or fraud;
- circumvent account, payment, identity or security controls;
- attempt to access another user's private information;
- introduce malicious software;
- scrape protected information;
- interfere with Chasy systems; or
- abuse invitations, reminders, notifications or follow-up to harass or threaten another person.
21. Suspension and restrictions
Chasy may suspend an account or restrict particular features where reasonably necessary to:
- protect users;
- investigate suspected fraud or misuse;
- respond to a security risk;
- comply with law;
- comply with a legitimate provider requirement;
- address a material breach of these Terms; or
- manage an unresolved verification, payment or dispute issue.
Where lawful and practical, Chasy will provide information about the general reason for a material restriction and any action required from you.
Chasy will exercise these powers reasonably and not for an arbitrary or punitive purpose.
22. Account closure
You may request closure of your Chasy account.
Closing your account does not automatically:
- cancel an amount you legitimately owe;
- alter another person's legitimate expense history;
- remove an unresolved dispute; or
- require Chasy to delete information that must reasonably or legally be retained.
Chasy may delete, de-identify, disconnect or restrict information in accordance with its Privacy Policy and data-retention requirements.
Some shared group records may need to remain so that another user's legitimate expense and settlement history remains accurate.
23. Third-party services
Chasy depends on third-party services for functions including:
- authentication;
- cloud infrastructure;
- application hosting;
- notifications;
- receipt processing;
- mobile application distribution; and
- future Open Banking or payment functionality.
A provider may have its own:
- privacy terms;
- consent process;
- verification requirements; or
- terms of service.
Where separate acceptance or consent is required, Chasy will present or link the relevant information at the appropriate point.
Chasy cannot control every outage, delay or decision made independently by another provider, bank, mobile platform or payment network.
This does not limit any responsibility that applicable law places on Chasy.
24. Availability and changes to Chasy
Chasy may update, improve, replace or discontinue features as the service develops.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.
Access may occasionally be affected by:
- maintenance;
- software issues;
- infrastructure outages;
- security incidents;
- provider outages;
- mobile platform issues; or
- other events outside Chasy's reasonable control.
Where a material change adversely affects an ongoing paid service, Chasy will provide any notice or remedy required by applicable law.
25. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified under the Australian Consumer Law or another applicable law.
26. Limits of Chasy's role and liability
Chasy provides tools for recording, calculating, reviewing, communicating and settling shared expenses.
Chasy relies on information supplied or approved by users.
We do not guarantee that:
- another group member will pay an amount shown in Chasy;
- information entered by another user is correct;
- a private debt is legally enforceable; or
- an independently arranged manual transfer will be completed correctly.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Chasy is not responsible for loss caused solely by:
- information you knowingly provide incorrectly;
- unauthorised use resulting from your failure to take reasonable security precautions; or
- a manual transfer you independently make using recipient information that Chasy did not provide or alter.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
27. Complaints and disputes
Chasy may receive complaints concerning:
- the operation of Chasy;
- shared-expense calculations;
- group or settlement records;
- manual payments;
- reminders or communications;
- privacy;
- security; and
- future Open Banking or payment-provider services.
Chasy can investigate its own service, correct its records where appropriate and involve an applicable provider where necessary.
We aim to:
- acknowledge a formal complaint within two business days; and
- provide a substantive response within 30 calendar days,
subject to any different timeframe required by law or an applicable regulatory or provider process.
Where an external escalation option applies, we will explain it as appropriate.
Privacy complaints can be sent to:
General support and other complaints can be submitted through the support or complaints contact provided in the Chasy app or on the Chasy website.
28. Changes to these Terms
Chasy may update these Terms where reasonably required because of changes to:
- the Chasy service;
- providers;
- payment or Open Banking functionality;
- legal or regulatory requirements;
- security requirements; or
- our operating model.
Where a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to notify affected users before it takes effect where practicable.
We may require you to accept updated Terms before continuing to use particular functionality.
The current version will be published at:

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
Applicable Commonwealth laws and any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded continue to apply.
